Mr. Jackie Dewitt Watwood, age 64, of Rome, GA, died Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Atrium Health Floyd.

Mr. Watwood was born August 21, 1959, in Summerville, GA, son of Willie Eugene Watwood and Emma Jean Mitchell Watwood. He was Church of Christ by faith, and prior to his retirement, had been employed with Heil Environmental.

Mr. Watwood was preceded in death by his brothers, John Watwood, Douglas Watwood, and Dennis Watwood.

Survivors include his sons, Jeremy Watwood, Nick Watwood, and Jason Watwood; parents, Willie Eugene and Emma Jean Watwood; a sister, April Givens; 4 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon (E.S.T.) Saturday, December 23, 2023, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Min. Berlin Murphy and Min. Andrew Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Randall Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Watwood, Nick Watwood, Jason Watwood, and Rodney Givens.

Mrs. Elsie Mae Bell, age 88, of Lyerly, GA, died Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at her residence.

Mrs. Bell was born April 27, 1935, in Menlo, GA, daughter Charles Sanford Allen and Bertha Mae DeBerry Allen. She was a homemaker and a member of Belmont Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Bell; a daughter, Tracey Ledford; sisters, Pauline Tucker, Mittie Lee Payton, and Mary Alice Norton; brothers, Robert Allen and Lonnie Allen.

Survivors include her son, Milo Bell (Vera Johnson); daughter, Mary (Terry) Pettyjohn; a brother, Charles “Junior” Allen; sister, Doris Maxey; 7 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 22, 2023, at Johnson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Vick Norton, Anniston Mann, Justin Pettyjohn, Daniel Scott, Gary Allen, and Andy Payton.

Mrs. Tammy Deneen Broyles, age 58, of Summerville, GA, died Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at her residence.

Mrs. Broyles was born September 27, 1965, in Columbus, GA, daughter of Lucille (Danny) Rainey and the late Jerry Dale Dowda. She was a loving wife and loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed being a Registered Nurse and taking care of people and her family.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Broyles; sons, Brian (Lindsey) Kilgo, Alex (April) Sheffield; daughters, Quana Kavanaugh (Shari Dillon), Amy (Adam) Fink, and Kim Broyles; mother, Lucille (Danny) Rainey; sisters, Katrina (Bobby) Ball, Angie (Mark) Vining; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and special friends, Cheryl Duval, Penny Millican, and Pam Hall.

Mrs. Lurlene Foster Adams age 90 of Summerville, GA passed away Friday, December 15, 2023 at a local hospital.

Mrs. Adams was born in Holland, Ga. February 9, 1933, daughter of late John Foster and Florence Foster. She was a faithful member of Hwy 27 Church of Christ. Mrs. Adams was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Prior to her retirement she was employed with Mohawk Industries.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John D. Adams, and son Melvin Lovett Foster Sr.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Renderal (Leanne) Adams, Ronderal Adams, Johnny (Gina) Adams, Kenneth; daughter, Loraine (Orlando) Quijano; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Adams will take place at 3:00 PM Wednesday, December 20 at the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Minister L.D. Ludy officiating. Mr. Harry Thomas Thompson, age 86, of Summerville, GA, died Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Winthrop Health and Rehab.

Mr. Thompson was born March 25, 1937, in Rome, GA, son of the late Robert H. Thompson and Clara Bell Brock Thompson. He currently attended Subligna Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, served as district manager for Alterman Foods. Mr. Thompson loved singing and playing guitar and was a personal friend of Merle Haggard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Greg Thompson, Mike Thompson; brothers, J.L. Thompson, W.D. Thompson; sisters, Ruth McCollum, Thelma Cornett, and Imogene Walker; and a grandson, Matthew Lee Thompson.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Beth Fincher Thompson; a son, Ricky (Karen) Thompson; 7 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and special niece, Teresa Walker.

Mr. James Harold Ellenburg, Jr. age 84 of the Dry Valley Community, Summerville, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. Ellenburg was born in Trion, Georgia on May 27, 1939, son of the late James Harold Ellenburg and Jewel Rogers Ellenburg. He was an active member of the Welcome Hill Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was retired from Temple/Inland and loved being outdoors, machine work, fixing things, and riding on his tractors. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ellenburg was preceded in death by his only brother, John Kenneth Ellenburg.

Mr. Ellenburg is survived by his wife, Betty Ellenburg; daughter and son-in-law, Deb and John Chance; two grandchildren, Jonathan Chance and Jenna Chance Marsee; and one great-granddaughter, Alice Katherine Chance.

Funeral Services for Mr. Ellenburg will be held Monday, December 18, 2023 at 4:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Bro. Tony Samples officiating. Private Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memory Gardens.

Miss Sybil Pauline Ball, age 86 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023 at her residence.

Miss Pauline was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on July 2, 1937, daughter of the late George C. Ball and Bessie Ida Hartline Ball. She was a member of the Spring Creek Baptist Church. She loved Gospel Music, crocheting, reading her Bible, drawing and going to church. In addition to her parents, Miss Pauline was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Miss Pauline is survived by a brother, Clyde Ball; caretakers, Judy and Donnie Hollingsworth; special nurses, Tonya Chamlee and Lorna Whitten; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Miss Pauline will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Holman officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Bethel Cemetery.
