MRS. DORIS FAYE TAPP, age 76, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday July 29, 2023 at her daughter’s residence in Cedar Bluff, Alabama. She was born in Trion, Georgia April 13, 1947, a daughter of the late Charlie Marvin and Irene Mae Ellison Caldwell. Mrs. Tapp attended West Berryton Faith Temple. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny W. Tapp; sisters, Barbara Hartline, Linda Jones, Pamela Caldwell and brothers, Charles Caldwell and Dewayne Caldwell: grandson, Timothy Hall, Jr.

Survivors include her daughters, Rebecca Hall and Faye (Ron) DeBerry; sister, Rachel Kilgore; brothers, Jerry Caldwell and Ray Caldwell; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 from the J.D. Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Caldwell and Rev. John Mann officiating, interment in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Justin Tapp, Casey Beaver, Brandon DeGrasse, Paul Brown, Ron DeBerry and Travis Williams. Honorary Pallbearers Danny Wilkins, Nieces, Nephews, The Cedar Bluff Fire Department, and Nurses and staff of Amedisys Hospice Gadsden Alabama. MR. JOHN FRANK KELLETT, JR., age 71 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday July 29, 2023. He was born August 20, 1951, son of the late John Frank Kellett, Sr. and Myra Geraldine Fletcher Kellett. Mr. Kellett was a U. S. Army Veteran of Viet Nam, Desert Storm, 911 and also retired from Hayes State Prison.

Surviving are His wife, Mi-Lyong Kellett; daughter, Lana June Kellett; sons, Jason Marcus (Susie) Kellett and Peter Frank (Jamie) Kellett; sisters, Jean (Thomas) Hawkins, and Nasi (Scott) Sparks; brothers, Andrew Thomas (Cindy) Kellett and William David (Linda) Kellett; granddaughters, Savannah Bailey Kellett and Alexa Kellett; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday August 1st, at 5:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Kellett officiating, private interment in the Kellett Farm Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers members of the U. S. Army, and all present and former employees of Haye State Prison.

Donny Merle Maddux, Obit (M)

Mr. Donny Merle Maddux age 82 of Trion, GA passed away Friday, July 28, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. Maddux was born August 20, 1940 in Trion, GA to the late Andrew and Sarah Maddux. He was of the Church of Christ Faith. Donny was known throughout the southeast for his extremely talented ability to build, race, and win drag races and national championships. He set a world record in 1971 at the Palmetto Drag strip. He lived his life to help others and to show them kindness and love. He was admired by many for his knowledge and superior mechanic skills. He was a man of God, a loving husband, daddy, Papa, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was not a man of many words but was honest and sincere, and to know him was to love him.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by wife, Celeste Newsome Maddux.

Survivors include his children Micah (Elizabeth) Maddux, Savannah (Lann) Pledger, Noel (Chad) Stephens, Heather Maddux, and Brooke Maddux; Sister Andrea (Mike) Pitts; grandchildren, Andrew Henderson, Jordan (Larry) Jackson, Hanna Stricklin, Blake Stricklin, Tanner (Morgan) Stone, Haley (Hunter) Harris, Natalie stone, Paisley Pledger, Alianah Pledger, Elan Pledger, Noah Maddux, Jacob Maddux, Bryce Tidmore, Colton Stephens, Jacob (Haylee) Stevens, Garrett Stephens, Rhett Bennett, Rhyan Maddux, and Karlee (Tristan) Bare, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Maddux will take place at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 3, 2023 at the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Clemments officiating. Interment will follow at Old Trion Cemetery with Tanner Stone, Andrew Henderson, Blake Strickland, Noah Maddux, Jacob Maddux, Richard Gill, Nate Pease, and Bryce Tidmore serving as pallbearers.

LITTLE ABIGAIL MARIE GOSS passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023 in a Rome Hospital. She was born February 7, 2023, infant daughter of Morgan Long Goss and Noah James pGoss. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Donna Long, great grandfather, C.D. Long and grandfather Tony Goss.

Surviving are her parents, Morgan Long Goss and Noah James Goss; grandfather, Charlie Long; grandmother, Ashley Nicole Cleland; godfather, Aaron Bice; nanna, Janice Lewis Hankins; great grandmothers, Judy Long and Janice Brookover; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mrs. Charlotte Bee Day Hall, age 87 of Trion, Georgia passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at the Gardens of Royal Oaks Assisted Living Center in Dalton, GA.

Mrs. Hall was born in Trion, Georgia on February 27, 1936, daughter of the late George Joseph Day and Annie Mae Nunn Day. She was a member of the Trion United Methodist Church and prior to retirement, was employed with the Trion City School System. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by son, Jay Hall; sisters, Christine Googe, Myrtle Young and Magalene Higgins; and brothers, LeRoy Day, Thurman Day and George Day, Jr.

Mrs. Hall is survived by her husband, Jimmy Hall; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Barbara Hall and Scott and Beverly Hall; daughter-in-law, Laura Hall; grandchildren, Matthew and Heather Hall, Kelly and Jay Tripp, Andrew Hall, Alex Hall, Sarah Hall, Sammy Hall and Stephen Hall; great granddaughter, Hazel Hall; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside and Interment Services for Mrs. Hall will be held Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. in the family plot of West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Scott Parrish officiating.

Pallbearers will include Matthew Hall, Alex Hall, Andrew Hall, Sammy Hall, Stephen Hall and Jay Tripp.

MRS. LUDAIN PRUITT GILREATH, age 83 of Teloga Community passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023 in a Chattanooga Hospital. Mrs. Gilreath was born, September 24, 1939, in Fort Payne, Alabama to the late General Filmore Pruitt and Gladys Cavin Pruitt. She was a member of New Hope North Baptist Church and was retired from Roper Corporation. In addition to Parents, She was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Deforrest Gilreath, brothers, General Leon Pruitt, Hubert “Sam” Pruitt, and sister, Eloise Pruitt Magnusson.

Surviving are, daughters, Becky (Donnie) Gerrin and Sherri (Richard) Selby; sons, Calvin (Rachel) Gilreath and Jerry Gilreath; granddaughters, Lisa Gilreath, Lacey Gilreath, Michelle Pollard Causey, Emily (Michael) Kobito, and Grace Gilreath; grandson, Justin Pollard (Dana); great grandchildren, Ansley Causey, Caden Causey, Brooklyn Causey, and Mack Pollard; great great grandchild, Maisley Causey; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Mrs. Burrage was born January 19, 1960 in Lafayette, GA to the late John Hogue and Frances Wofford Gilreath. She was retired from Circle K and enjoyed playing guitar, painting, and crafts.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Burrage; daughters, Quisha Leonard and Stephanie Webb; step-daughter, Felisha Freeman; Siblings, Sean Hogue, Shane (Ava) Hogue, Bradley Hogue, Carol Maloney, Celenia Kirby, Brandy Selfors, and Marlinda (Joe) Brown; grandchildren, Emma Weathers, Natalie Leonard, Nathanial Leonard, Chase Freeman, and Alyssa Freeman; and great-grandchild, Daniel Weathers.

She was retired from Restaurant Enterprises and was of the Baptist Faith. She was an accomplished golfer, loved flowers and loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her family, Mrs.

Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee “Buddy” Williams, Jr.; and brothers, Edward “Buddy” Watkins and Frankie Watkins.

Mrs. Helen Kay Sharp Conaway, age 82, of Trion, GA, died Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Atrium Health Floyd.

Mrs. Conaway was born March 29, 1941, in Summerville, GA, daughter of the late James M. and Ollie Elizabeth Aaron Sharp. She was Baptist by faith, and prior to her retirement, had been employed with Wire Tech. She loved spending time with her family, being a caregiver and working in the garden. She was also a big time fan and loved watching wrestling events.

Helen was most devoted to her family and friends. She never met a stranger and was the life of the party at family get-togethers. She was dearly loved by all her nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Conaway was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Conaway; sisters, JoAnn Adams, Jeanette Penrod, and Imma Jean Sharp.

Survivors include her sisters, Doris E. Smith, Josie V. Ramey, and Lillie Dale.

Mrs. Ruby Mae Petitt, age 95 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, July 16, 2023 at her residence.

Mrs. Ruby was born in Clay County, Alabama on June 3, 1928, daughter of the late James Thomas Dixson and Ivy Nonie Denny Dixson. She and her husband, Durward Leon Petitt owned and operated the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home from 1969, until his death in November of 2012. Mrs. Ruby loved spending time being with and telling her kids, grandkids and great grandchildren stories; working in her yard, taking care of her flowers, cooking and crocheting. She was a member of the New Antioch Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ruby was preceded by her husband, Durward Leon Petitt on November 16, 2012 and two daughters, Sandra Sue Petitt and Rhonda Petitt Wells.

Mrs. Ruby is survived by a son, Dana Leon Petitt; daughter, Renia Petitt Miller; son-in-law, Larry Wells; sisters, Lavada Dean, Nadine Bailey Moore, Barbara Dixson and Jeanette Pope; brother, Jimmy Dale Dixson; grandchildren, Yvette and Jason Houck, Jeff Richardson, Anthony Richardson, Julie Petitt, Travis Petitt, Daera Rankin, Natasha and Ricky Dover, Chad and Erica Miller; great grandchildren, Lexie Dover, Bentley Dover, Cooper Miller, Pryce Houck, Gradon Houck, Cassey Wells, Tyler Eliam and Nick Eliam; and a number of nieces, nephews and additional family members.
