A 60-year-old Chattooga County man was arrested February 13 following a traffic stop along Highway 27 that led to a driving under the influence charge, according to an incident report.
The arrest report shows Bart Alexander Bryant was taken into custody on February 13, 2026, at approximately 3:27 p.m. and charged with DUI – Alcohol Less Safe and Failure to Maintain Lane.
According to the report narrative, an officer observed a vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 27 cross over lane lines multiple times near Ross Street and the Pit Stop Gym before turning onto Farrar Drive. The officer initiated a traffic stop after observing the vehicle touch the line several times.
The report states the driver exhibited slurred speech and an odor of alcohol. During the encounter, Bryant reportedly admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the day. An alco-sensor test indicated the presence of alcohol, according to the narrative.
The document indicates Bryant agreed to a blood draw after being read Georgia’s implied consent notice for suspects age 21 and over. The blood sample was collected and secured for submission to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Division of Forensic Science for testing, the report states.
Bryant was transported to jail without incident. The report lists his vehicle as a 2023 black Ford SUV.
A court date is scheduled for April 7, 2026, at 5:30 p.m., according to the arrest information.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
