The Chattooga County Republican Party will hold its January meeting Tuesday, January 13, at 6:30 p.m. at Jefferson’s Restaurant, 10096 Commerce Street, in Summerville.
Vernon Jones will be the featured speaker. Jones is a longtime Georgia political figure who previously served as DeKalb County CEO and as a state representative. In recent years, he has become a prominent conservative voice statewide and is currently campaigning for Georgia Secretary of State, focusing on election integrity and voter confidence.
The meeting comes as the race for Georgia’s 53rd State Senate District continues to take shape. Republican candidates include former Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry and former Trion Mayor Lanny Thomas, both seeking to represent the district that includes Chattooga County.
The local Senate race has gained added attention following State Sen. Colton Moore’s announcement that he plans to run for the 14th U.S. Congressional District. That seat officially opened after Marjorie Taylor Greene’s final day in Congress on Monday, January 5.
Party officials say the meeting is open to the public and will give residents a chance to hear from speakers, learn about upcoming races, and engage in discussions impacting Chattooga County and Northwest Georgia.
