
Chattooga High School is preparing for a busy stretch of athletic competition over the next two weeks, with softball, volleyball and football teams all taking the field and court both at home and on the road.
The schedule begins Wednesday, August 5, when the Lady Indians softball team hosts Model at 5:30 p.m. Action continues Thursday, August 6, with softball traveling to Armuchee for a 5 p.m. game, while the volleyball team opens its season at Woodland, facing Woodland and Pepperell beginning at 5 p.m.
The following week, softball travels to Mt. Zion on Monday, August 10, before volleyball visits Gordon Central on Tuesday, August 11, to face Gordon Central and Woodland beginning at 5 p.m. Also on August 11, the Chattooga Middle School football team will host LaFayette in a scrimmage at 5 p.m.
The busiest week of home competition begins Wednesday, August 12, when the Lady Indians host Southeast Whitfield at 5:30 p.m. Volleyball returns home on Thursday, August 13, for matches against Darlington and Rome beginning at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The highlight of the week comes Friday, August 14, when the Chattooga Indians football team hosts Trion in a preseason scrimmage at 7:30 p.m.
The schedule wraps up Saturday, August 15, as the Lady Indians travel to Gilmer County for games against Gilmer County and Lumpkin County beginning at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Athletic Director Mark Turner is also asking for additional volunteers to help work the admission gates at upcoming home events. Volunteers are still needed for August 12, 13 and 14, and anyone interested in helping can sign up through the school’s online gate worker schedule.
