The Chattooga County Board of Education is currently accepting applications for several positions ahead of the upcoming 2026-27 school year.
The Chattooga Athletic Booster Club is gearing up for its fifth annual golf tournament, with proceeds benefiting athletic programs at Chattooga High School.
The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, at the Trion Golf Course. The event will feature a four-man scramble format with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
Registration is $320 per team, and Mulligans will be available for purchase separately.
Participants will enjoy lunch, compete for cash prizes, and have an opportunity to win a pellet grill through a raffle that will be available during registration.
Local businesses and community supporters can also help support Chattooga High School athletics by purchasing $100 hole sponsorships.
Organizers say proceeds from the tournament will go directly toward supporting athletic programs at Chattooga High School.
The Chattooga High School Welding Fabrication Team has earned a remarkable second-place finish at the SkillsUSA National Championships, representing the State of Georgia against the nation’s top career and technical education students.
Several Chattooga High School students are representing the State of Georgia this week as they compete against some of the nation’s best career and technical education students at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Atlanta.
One of Chattooga High School’s standout softball players will have the opportunity to represent Northwest Georgia on one of the region’s biggest stages next month.
Chattooga County School Nutrition officials have announced the return of the Summer Feeding Program, providing free meals for children during the summer break.
The program will operate on Fridays beginning June 5th and continuing through July 10th. There will be no meal service during the week of June 29th through July 5th due to the Independence Day holiday.
The program is open to all children ages 18 and under. Families will receive seven days of breakfast meals and seven days of lunch meals for each child in the household at each pickup. Children do not have to be present to receive meals.
Pickup dates are Friday, June 5th, June 12th, June 19th, June 26th, and July 10th.
Meals will be distributed from 1:30 until 2:30 PM at Chattooga High School, Menlo Elementary School, Fairway Recreation Center, and Leroy Massey Elementary School.

Both Chattooga High School and Trion High School have announced graduation ceremonies will be moved indoors because of the forecast for rain and thunderstorms Friday evening.
Chattooga High School officials say graduation has been moved to the school gymnasium to ensure the safety and comfort of attendees. Due to limited seating capacity, each graduate will receive seven tickets for admission. Tickets will be distributed Thursday morning following graduation practice. The ceremony will also be livestreamed on YouTube and Facebook for those unable to attend in person.
Meanwhile, Trion High School has also moved its Friday night graduation ceremony from the stadium to the THS Gymnasium. School officials say no tickets will be required for entry. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. ahead of the 8:00 p.m. ceremony.
Both school systems say the decisions were made after closely monitoring weather forecasts throughout the week.
Summerville Montessori School will celebrate its students with an end-of-year parade on Thursday, May 21, at 5 p.m.
The parade will begin at Chattooga High School, travel down Highway 114 to Highway 27, and continue to the school.
Family, friends, and community members are invited to come out and support the students and celebrate their achievements from the school year.
Any graduating seniors who previously attended Montessori are also invited to take part in the parade and serve as grand marshals in recognition of their graduation and accomplishments.
Chattooga High School has released its 2026-2027 Parent and Family Engagement Policy, School-Parent Compact, and plans for shared student achievement for the upcoming school year.
The Chattooga High School Marching Band is holding a Sportsman Raffle fundraiser featuring outdoor gear, fishing equipment, and a guided fishing trip on Weiss Lake.
The raffle package includes a YETI Roadie 24 cooler, a guided fishing trip for two on Weiss Lake through Whaley & Son Guide Service, a fishing rod and reel combo, a Snackle Box, and a pack of Gatorade.
Tickets are $25 each or five tickets for $100, with only 200 tickets available.
The drawing is scheduled for May 30, 2026.
