A routine traffic stop in Chattooga County has resulted in multiple charges, including Fugitive From Justice, following an arrest made February 23, 2026, according to information released by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies reported initiating a stop along Highway 48 near the Shinbone Valley Road area after observing a vehicle allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed in a posted 55 mph zone. Authorities stated the vehicle did not display a valid license plate at the time of the stop.
During the course of the investigation, the driver, Lacy Dannette Timmons, a 42-year-old woman, was taken into custody and charged with Driving Without a License, No Proof of Insurance, Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Registration, Reckless Driving, Giving False Name to Officers, and Fugitive From Justice.
The Fugitive From Justice charge indicates that the individual was allegedly wanted in another jurisdiction at the time of the arrest. According to the report, authorities placed a hold related to outstanding matters from another state. Law enforcement agencies commonly use the Fugitive From Justice designation when a person is accused of having pending warrants or unresolved legal issues outside the arresting jurisdiction.
In addition to the fugitive designation, deputies reported that Timmons allegedly provided false identifying information during the stop, resulting in an additional charge. The vehicle was later towed from the scene.
Timmons was transported to the Chattooga County Jail following the arrest.
All charges listed are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The case remains pending in Chattooga County court.
