Students will be returning to Georgia Northwestern Technical College for the spring semester, one week from today on January 12, 2026. Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) continues to be a major resource for residents across Northwest Georgia by providing career-focused education, adult learning opportunities, and workforce training designed to help people move into better jobs and meet the needs of local employers.
GNTC serves a nine-county area — Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, Gordon, Murray, Polk, Walker, and Whitfield — offering programs that help students earn credentials that lead directly to work in high-demand fields. The college’s mission is centered on preparing a skilled workforce for the region, supporting both traditional students and adults who are returning to school to gain new skills, change careers, or advance in their current profession.
Community input plays a key role in how the college stays aligned with Northwest Georgia’s workforce needs. The GNTC Board of Directors includes leaders from business and industry who help connect the college to the real-world demands of employers across the region. Eddie Elsberry represents Chattooga County on the board, helping ensure the needs of residents and businesses in the county are part of the conversation as the college plans and prioritizes training opportunities.
The board provides community oversight, supports strategic planning, and helps ensure the college maintains strong educational quality and fiscal accountability. That work helps GNTC remain responsive as industries evolve, so students graduate with skills that match current job opportunities in Northwest Georgia.
