Howard V Hughes Sr. passed away on December 24, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, music, and faith. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Allie Jo Hughes, whom he cherished deeply.
Howard retired from Mt. Vernon Mills at the age of 65 after many years of dedicated service. A gifted musician, he had a lifelong love for music and was skilled in playing the guitar, bass, and other musical instruments. Above all, Howard deeply loved his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his church family. In his later years, his greatest pleasures were making music, spending time with his family, and enjoying visits to local restaurants with Carolyn.
Howard would have celebrated his 82nd birthday on December 25, 2025. He will be remembered for his kind heart, strong faith, and the music that filled his life and the lives of those who loved him. His legacy will continue to live on in every song, every memory, and every life he touched
Howard is survived by his children: Patty Bishop and her husband Randy Bishop, Howard Hughes Jr. and his wife Ann Hughes, and Tammy Lau. He was a proud grandfather to Stephanie Blackmon, Samantha Mendence and her husband Donald Mendence, Shannon Curtis, and RJ Bishop, and a joyful great-grandfather to Pierce Blackmon, Kade Blackmon, Millie Blackmon, Beckham Mendence, Kova Curtis, and Rowan Curtis.
