A 23-year-old man wanted in connection with a 2025 murder in Rome has been taken into custody in North Carolina.

According to the Rome Police Department, Treveonsay Trejion Burge was arrested in Cleveland County, North Carolina. Burge was wanted in connection with the October 21, 2025, shooting death of 18-year-old Adam Taylor Hernandez in Rome.

Police say Burge faces charges of felony murder and aggravated assault in connection with Hernandez’s death.

Burge is being held at the Cleveland County Detention Center in Shelby, North Carolina, where authorities say he also faces additional charges stemming from his arrest. He is being held without bond.

The Rome Police Department thanked investigators and law enforcement agencies involved in the search and apprehension of Burge, including the U.S. Marshals Service, the North Carolina Bureau of Investigation and the Shelby Police Department.

All charges are accusations, and Burge is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
