The Summerville Police Department investigated a reported domestic dispute after a man told officers another person displayed a knife during an argument at a Rainbow Trail residence.

According to an incident report filed by Officer Ibzan Ramirez, police were dispatched to 58 Rainbow Trail on the evening of July 28 in reference to a report of a person armed with a knife.

The complainant told police that he and Raphael Watley had been involved in a verbal argument. According to the complainant’s account in the report, Watley was allegedly holding a black box cutter with a gray blade behind his back while walking toward him.

The complainant told the officer that Watley did not attempt to stab, swing or otherwise assault him with the alleged weapon.

Police then spoke with Watley, who acknowledged that a verbal argument had occurred but denied possessing a knife or other weapon during the incident, according to the report.

Officer Ramirez also contacted residents at three nearby addresses. Two residents said they did not witness the incident, while another reported hearing people arguing inside a residence but did not witness what occurred outside.

Police reported no injuries, and officers did not locate a weapon matching the complainant’s description during the investigation.

The complainant was advised that a police report would be completed and forwarded to an investigator.

The incident was classified by the Summerville Police Department as a non-criminal domestic dispute. The report does not indicate that an arrest was made in connection with the incident.
