High school football returns to Chattooga County tonight as the Trion Bulldogs and Chattooga Indians square off in their 2026 preseason scrimmage.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. tonight, Friday, August 14, at Chattooga High School in Summerville.
The annual preseason matchup gives both programs an opportunity to see their players in game conditions before the 2026 regular season gets underway. Coaches will have a chance to evaluate returning starters, younger players stepping into larger roles and newcomers competing for positions as both teams make their final preparations for games that count.
While the final score may not carry regular-season implications, the meeting between the county’s two high school football programs always brings plenty of local interest. For players and coaches, Friday night’s scrimmage provides a valuable measuring stick after weeks of summer workouts and preseason practices.
For fans, it’s the first opportunity of the fall to see the Bulldogs and Indians under the Friday night lights and get an early look at what both teams will bring to the field during the 2026 campaign.
