A routine traffic stop in Gore led to an arrest after a driver was found to be using a false identity and driving on a suspended license.

According to a report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened on the night of March 20th near the intersection of John Jones Road and Highway 27.

An officer observed a vehicle leaving a convenience store without functioning tag lights and initiated a traffic stop after the vehicle crossed the highway and pulled into another parking lot.

During the stop, the driver initially identified himself using a false name and stated he did not have his driver’s license. After further investigation, the officer was able to determine the driver’s true identity as a 47-year-old Summerville man, Jeremy Lee Headrick.

Authorities say the man had an outstanding warrant for felony probation violation and was also found to have a driver’s license that had been suspended since 2010.

During a consent search of the vehicle, a marijuana grinder was located, though no other contraband was found.

Headrick was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Chattooga County Jail.
