Trion City Schools is one of only four public school systems in Georgia to post a 100% graduation rate for the Class of 2026.
New graduation data released this week by the Georgia Department of Education show that every student in Trion’s four-year adjusted cohort graduated on time.
Trion City Schools joined Chickamauga City Schools, Ware County Schools and Warren County Schools as the only city or county school districts in Georgia to achieve a perfect graduation rate this year.
The accomplishment comes as Georgia also recorded its highest statewide graduation rate since the state began using the federally required adjusted-cohort calculation in 2011.
Georgia’s graduation rate reached 88.5% for the Class of 2026, up from 87.2% last year. The statewide rate has increased more than 21 percentage points since 2011, when it stood at 67.4%.
The four-year adjusted cohort rate tracks students who enter ninth grade together and determines how many earn a diploma within four years. Students who transfer into a school are added to the cohort, while students with a documented transfer to another school are removed.
Across Georgia, 147 school districts recorded graduation rates of 90% or higher, while 69 districts were at or above 95%.
State education officials credited students, teachers, families, school employees and communities for the continued increase in graduation rates. Officials also pointed to career and technical education, work-based learning and alternative diploma pathways as part of Georgia’s effort to keep students on track toward graduation.
Trion City Schools has historically maintained a graduation rate well above the state average, but the newly released figures put the system at 100% for the Class of 2026.
