Trion First Baptist Church is participating in Operation Christmas Child again this year while also collecting peanut butter to help families in need through the Chattooga County Resource Center.

The church is inviting residents to fill shoeboxes with gifts for children around the world as part of the annual Operation Christmas Child program. The shoeboxes will be distributed to children in need during the Christmas season.

Anyone interested in participating can pick up an empty shoebox at the church, along with packing instructions and suggested gift lists. Completed shoeboxes must be returned to the church office by November 15.

A $10 shipping fee is required for each shoebox and is due when the completed box is returned. Checks should be made payable to Trion First Baptist Church.

In addition to the Christmas shoebox project, the church is conducting a peanut butter drive throughout November to benefit the Chattooga County Resource Center.

Residents are encouraged to donate peanut butter, which can be dropped off at the church office through November 30.

The two projects provide opportunities for local residents to help children around the world while also supporting families facing food insecurity here in Chattooga County.

Trion First Baptist Church is located at 95 Church Street in Trion.
