Georgia gas prices  increased at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $2.33 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Monday’s state average is 5 cents more than a week ago, 12 cents more than last month, and 6 cents more than this time last year.

Gaylesville Man Charged With 2nd Degree Assault Following Shooting Incident

A Gaylesville, Alabama man was taken into custody Sunday evening by Sheriff’s Office investigators following a shooting incident in Jamestown, Alabama.

Cherokee County Chief Deputy Josh Summerford that deputies had responded to a residence on County Road 15 after receiving a 9-1-1 call that a minor had been shot.
Sixty-three-year-old Alvin Glen Wright was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center on the charge of second-degree assault.  According to a News Release from the Sheriff’s Office – Wright, who is a neighbor, shot into a surrounding patch of woods.
Floyd EMS transported a thirteen-year-old female victim to a local hospital for treatment; no additional information regarding her condition has been made available.

Wright is currently being held without Bond.

Probate Judge Says Carry Permits Now Available

Chattooga County Probate Judge Gary Woods says that a glitch in the GBI’s fingerprinting system led to a temporary halt of gun carry permits, but that the glitch has been resolved and carry permit applications are being processed by the Chattooga County Probate Court.
