A Florida man led Alabama authorities on a chase into Georgia at speeds near 130 miles per hour Saturday before he lost control and abandoned his vehicle, reports stated.
All Georgia Department of Public Health Northwest Health District offices, including the district office in Rome and all ten county health departments, will delay opening today, Tuesday, February 16, until 10 a.m.

Chattooga County School System- Schools will be doing all virtual learning today.

Chattooga County Library-Delayed opening until 10 a.m.

Redmond Family Care-Delayed opening until 10 a.m.
City of Summerville -all offices will delay opening until 10 a.m.
Rome City Schools-Will remain on a virtual learning day for both students and staff.
Floyd County Schools-Closed
Walker County Schools are already out on Winter Break and are scheduled to return to school on Wednesday, February 17th.
Dr. Miniyars office will delay opening until 10 a.m.

Trion City Schools Superintendent Dr. Phil Williams announced on Monday evening that Trion City Schools will be on a 2 hour delay for Tuesday February 16, 2021.
The Georgia Department of Transportation began brine treatment of interstates, state routes, bridges and overpasses this afternoon in northern parts of the state in preparation of potential flash freezing due to precipitation this afternoon followed by cold air coming in quickly this evening.
Crews in Northwest Georgia will monitor conditions and continue treatment overnight on bridges and roadways throughout the night as needed. Motorists are advised to avoid unnecessary travel.
Please be aware of the brine trucks in your areas given they must travel 40 mph to properly apply the treatment. Pay attention to Georgia DOT trucks spreading materials and stay back a safe distance.

Chattooga County School Superintendent Jared Hosmer says that due to the possibility of icy conditions on Tuesday, all Chattooga County Schools Students will have a virtual learning day.

Chattooga County and Northwest Georgia are just east of the leading edge of a huge winter weather maker that is affecting areas from the Mid-South all the way to Canada. Monday morning temperatures remained in the mid to upper thirties across Chattooga County preventing any freezing precipitation. That is not the case just to the west of us in Alabama and Mississippi and Tennessee – stretching all the way back to Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas where ice and snow is causing problems this morning.
