Chattooga High School Sophomore, Jayla Rich, is advancing as a semi-finalist candidate in the area of physics for Georgia’s Governor’s Honors Program (GHP). This is one of Georgia’s most academically competitive programs for advanced students.
Ms. Dorothy Faye Forrest, age 81, of Rock Spring, GA, died Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at her residence.
Ms. Forrest was born March 30, 1941, in Summerville, GA, daughter of the late Bill and Bernice May Smith Ragan. She was a member of Kensington Church of God, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Pruitt Health Care.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Forrest was preceded in death by her brothers, Billy Siffles, Leon Siffles, Ray Siffles, Charles Ragan, and Terry Ragan; sister, Geneva Fountain; sisters-in-law, Betty Faye Siffles and Mary Siffles.
Survivors include her son, Larry (Amelia) Hunter; a daughter, Sandra Crowe; brothers, Jack Siffles, David (Mary) Siffles; sisters, Betty Edgeworth, Linda Wade, Glenda Green, and Barbara Blackmon; 6 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 16, 2023, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Dennison and Rev. Garland Touchstone officiating. Interment will follow in Summerville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh McGraw, Anthony Groce, Joe Edgeworth, Michael Hancock, Tony Fountain, and Kevin Bently.
Ms. Forrest will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service on Thursday.

A fifty-three-year-old Summerville woman was arrested last Friday night after she was accused of having a physical altercation with her boyfriend and then shooting him with a stun gun.
