Rep. Eddie Lumsden (R-Armuchee) released his weekly legislative report. Lumsden says that the Georgia House passed a bill that would expand eligibility for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) that would benefit extremely low-income pregnant women. He says that the bill would help move women and families toward self-sufficiency by providing monthly cash assistance. Also, the House passed a bill that would require glucose monitors to be provided for Medicaid recipients. There were also bills passed that would impact education in the state. You can see Rep. MR. JAMES HARPER BLACKMON, JR., age 84, of Trion, Georgia, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2023, in a Chattanooga Hospital. He was born in Floyd County, Georgia on March 18, 1938, son of the late James Harper Blackmon, Sr. and Lillie D. Ingram Blackmon. He was employed as a Supervisor with Harriett – Henderson Mills for a number of years and a member of the Living Waters Ministries. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary J. Blackmon.
Surviving are daughter, Tina Loggins; sons, James H. Blackmon, III, Marty Blackmon, and Kenny Blackmon; Ten Grandchildren; Several Great Grandchildren; Sisters, Bonnie Blackmon and Shirley Kiser; Brothers, Johnny Blackmon and Rickey Blackmon; Several Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 23, 2023 from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Wright officiating. Interment in West Hill Cemetery. Active Pallbearers Joey Thompson, Drew Blackmon, Alan McGuire, Darrell McGuire, Johnny Blackmon, Trampus Kiser, and Cody Luallen. The Family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2 Thursday at the Funeral Home.

MR. J. AUSTIN MOORE, age 82 of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, February 21,2023 at his residence. He was born in Summerville, Georgia, June 11, 1940, son of the late Joe A. Moore and Ruby Gertrude Jackson Moore. He was a farmer by trade and member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Moore; daughters, Susan Moore, Donna Moore, Debra Moore; son, Kenneth & Tina Moore; Grandchildren, Timothy Sisemore, II, Christopher David Sisemore, Tyler Lee & Jessica Moore, Joshua & Autumn Moore, Josh Hampton, Autumn Hampton; Several Great Grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 24, 2023, at 2 p.m. from the J.D. Hill Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor David Thompson officiating, interment in Subligna Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Timothy Sisemore, II, Christopher David Sisemore, Tyler Lee Moore, Joshua Moore, Josh Hampton, and Chance Bates. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Wakefield, Frank Richardson, David Ford, and Bob Eleam. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home.

Chattooga High School will host the first round of Basketball State Playoffs tomorrow evening. The Lady Indians will play at 6 PM and the boys will play at 7 PM. Doors will open at 5 PM.
