The Georgia Hospital Association says that they support streamlining Georgia’s certificate of need (CON) law, but the organization that represents hospitals across the state is not in favor of scrapping the law all together.
Summerville Police responded to a call from a homeowner on Sage Brush Lane on Tuesday afternoon after a tractor-trailer damaged the homeowner’s property. The complainant said that the truck drive said that his GPS had gotten him lost and he was trying to get to Highway 27. The truck had already broken a limb off of a tree when the homeowner approached the driver. The homeowner suggested that the driver call 911. The driver said that he had, but then got in the truck and drove through the complainant’s yard, leaving ruts and running over the complainant’s water meter. The truck broke the water meter cover and damaged the meter.
A twenty-four-year-old Dry Creek Road man was arrested on Friday after punching holes in the wall and destroying a bathroom door in his home. Deputies were alerted by the man’s in-laws who were in fear for their daughter who had fled the residence with the couple’s nine-month-old son. Deputies traveled to Dry Creek Road and found the subject, Charles Eugene Portwood who admitted to doing the damage to his own home and said that he and his wife had gotten into a heated argument. Portwood was arrested and booked into the Chattooga County Jail on charges of Disorderly Conduct.

Mrs. Linda Faye Wynn, age 80, of Cedar Bluff, AL, passed from this world on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at her residence.
Mrs. Wynn was born December 7, 1942, in Cedar Bluff, AL, daughter of the late William Burdette Wood and Annie Lucille Wood. She was a retired hairdresser and a member of Cedar Bluff First Baptist Church.
She was a founding member of the church’s outreach program where she helped provide food and resources to anyone in need. She also served as Church Treasurer. Mrs. Wynn was an excellent fisher lady who often outfished everyone on the boat. She really enjoyed her life on the lake.
Mrs. Wynn had the most beautiful flowers in her yard and spent many hours working with her plants. An avid Elvis fan, she enjoyed Elvis’ music and collecting his memorabilia. She loved her family, her church family, and her church. Mrs. Wynn helped everyone she knew any way that she could, and did it with so much love. She will be missed, but her love, grace, and generosity will live on through everyone who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wynn was preceded in death by sisters, Margie Leath, Jean Morrison, and Sibyle Stepps; and a brother, Bill Wood.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Roy Wynn; daughter, Kelley Wynn Clinton; sisters, Susan (Joe) Hall, Ruby Watts; and grandchild, Townes G. Clinton; special niece, Sheila Green.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M. (AL Time) Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Cedar Bluff First Baptist Church with Bro. Mark Cosby and Bro. Keith Day officiating.
There will be a gathering of family and friends from 1:00 P.M. (AL Time) until the hour of service on Saturday at the church. Honorary pallbearers will be Ross Clifton, Marvin “Bud” Wooten, Austin Everett, Larry Black, Dusty Hall, Darrell Green, Matt Bedwell, Donnie Wynn, Max Wynn, Randy Wood, Jeffery Wood, Joe Hall, and Wayne Day.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Cedar Bluff First Baptist Church Building Fund.
