Mrs. Florence L. Smith, age 81 of Martin Street in Summerville, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 at her residence. A strong storm system will track across Mississippi and Alabama through the day on Saturday, bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms ahead of it. Channel 12 Meteorologist Patrick Core says the heaviest storms will be this evening and tonight.
A Piedmont, Alabama man was booked into the Floyd County Jail after marijuana plants were reportedly found in his vehicle during a traffic stop Tuesday.
According to jail records, 21-year old Malachi Dustin Chandler was pulled over by Georgia State Troopers after he ran the red light at Shorter Avenue and Redmond Circle. He was then found in possession of an undisclosed quantity of marijuana plants.
Chandler is charged with manufacturing marijuana, failure to obey a traffic control device and driving on a suspended license.

Summerville Middle School FFA’s Spring Plant Sale starts tomorrow, and FFA Instructor Lauren Jarrett says that they have a greenhouse full of beautiful plants for spring planting.
The Town of Trion Zoning Board will have a regular meeting in the Town Hall Conference Room, Thursday, April 12, 2018. The meeting will begin at 5:30p.m. Any residents with questions can contact Mayor Larry Stancell or the Town Hall Office. The Zoning Board meeting is open to the public.
