A Summerville man narrowly escaped serious injury when his pickup crashed into a tractor -trailer at the intersection of Highway 27 north and Highway 140 Thursday afternoon.
According to reports an F-150 being driven by James Seymour ran through the intersection and struck a Chevy pickup before crashing into the big rig.
The F-150 was totaled and caused extensive damage to the tractor-trailer.
Seymour was taken from the scene to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries; he was cited for Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device.

Chattooga County's Vietnam Veterans were honored Thursday with a special luncheon held at the Civic Center.
The event was hosted by Barbara Massey-Reece and Odell Anderson; guest speakers for the day included Summerville Mayor Harry Harvey, and Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters, both honoring veteran's with a well deserved proclamation.
Charles "Chuck" Alsobrook, of the Georgia Department of Veterans' Services, assured those in attendance that he office was always open to provide assistance in any way possible, and he added that he was physically in Chattooga County at least once a month.
Vietnam veterans Don Henderson and William McDaniel also spoke to those gathered – and Barbara Massey-Reece read a letter to the crowd from U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson in which he expressed his sincere appreciation for their service.
A total of 65 veterans attended the first annual Chattooga County Vietnam Veterans Luncheon – the next service will include the awarding of service pins and certificates; that occurring when the list of Vietnam Veterans residing in Chattooga County has been completed.
