Two suspects arrested in the Monday Morning burglary of Fleetwood Pawn in Trion after one man was apprehended in the attic of the building and another apprehended after he fled on foot.

 Charged with burglary are 20 year old Kody Rain Jacome of Welcome Hill area and Michael George R. Busbin of an Oak Street, Summerville, address.  Jacome has additionally been charged with theft by deception in connection to an unrelated incident, according to Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Bryant Dodd. According to the report, deputies were notified of  a burglary in progress by an alert neighbor.  Upon arrival they found a Honda Passport with a Truck Town drive out tag loaded down with items apparently taken from the pawn shop and a hyster partially stuck inside the building’s wall between two doors.  

According to Dodd, Jacome was arrested after officers heard coughs from the ceiling inside the building. Dodd said Busbin was the outside lookout, who fled when he saw police cars. Busbin reportedly encountered two people walking down the street as he was fleeing and told them not to call police.  Since police were already on the scene at the pawn shop, they didn’t have to call but told police about the man.

According to Dodd, Jacome told him that he hadn’t intended to drive the hyster into the building’s wall but it was parked in the way near the building’s door. Jacome said he tried to move it but since he didn’t know how to drive a hyster, he accidently drove it intot the wall.  

Jacome reportedly was employed by Truck Town on Highway 27, Summerville, at the time of his arrest. He is additionally charged with theft by deception for charging $800 in merchandise from Advance Auto Parts, Summerville, and having it put on the TruckTown account.

Correction: Due to incorrect documents provided by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office it was incorrectly reported that Jack Thomas Rich of Summerville was arrested a second time this past weekend for an offense that took place in March. Thomas was arrested only once in March.  

An man who was employed at Hays State Prison was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute.  According to the the Chattooga County Jail booking report, 29-year-old Jack Thomas Rich, of Summerville,  was booked into the local jail this past weekend. He is charged withCharged with VGCSA – Possession of Schedule III Drug with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Meth, Possession of Schedule IV Drug with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Schedule III Drug, Possession of Schedule IV Drug for an offense that took place on March 3.  According to the booking report, Rich’s last known employer was Hayes State Prison. Officials at Hayes  would not say if Rich was employed by the prison at the time of his arrest or if he is still employed there. Several phone calls to the Dept of Corrections Public Affairs offices were unanswered and were not returned by the time this story was added to the AM 1180 website.

Volunteers will be cleaning up Paradise Gardens in Pennville Saturday as organizers get ready for the annual Finster Festival set for May 4-5.

Clean up is set for 10 a.m; to 3 p.m.,according to Jordan Poole, executive director of the Paradise Gardens Foundation.

He said all volunteers will be welcomed and lunch will be provided.

The run and walk will be through historic downtown Summerville and nerby Neighborhoods.
