MISS FRANCES D. SCOGGINS, age 86, of Subligna, Georgia, passed away Friday morning, October 18, 2024, in the local nursing home. She was born in Subligna on March 10, 1938, to the late Lawrence Chapman Scogging, Sr. and Ida Mae Rambo Scoggins. Miss Scoggins was a lifelong member of the Subligna Baptist Church and was a homemaker. In addition to Parents, She was preceded in death by her brothers, the late L. C. (Doc) Scoggins, Jr. (Ina) and Harold Scoggins (Dot), sister, the late Ms. Margaret Scoggins, and nephews the late Daryle Scoggins and Erick Scoggins.
Surviving are nieces and nephews, Sheryl McKinney and Carol Scoggins, Brion Scoggins, Mike Scoggins, and Mark Scoggins; several Great Nieces and Great Nephews; special friend, Odell Anderson.
Graveside and interment service, to celebrate the life of Miss Scoggins, will be held Monday, October 21st, at 1 P.M. at the Subligna Community Cemetery, with pastor Dr. Charles Bishop officiating. Active Pallbearers will be Nephews. In accordance with Miss Scoggins wishes, there will not be a visitation, anyone wishing to attend the service is requested to assemble at the Cemetery. The Family wishes to thank the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the care provided to Miss Scoggins during her stay.

Mr. Mickey Hughes, age 80 of Trion, Georgia passed away Friday, October 18, 2024 in a Rome hospital.
Mr. Hughes was born in Summerville, Georgia on March 5 1944, son of the late Roland Hughes and Rosa Dell Boyd Hughes Floyd. He was retired from and D Electric, where he was employed as an electrical technician and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Hughes enjoyed deer hunting and fishing and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Randy Hughes; step-father, Harold Floyd; sisters, Doris Reed and Shelia Winters; and brothers; Terry Winters, David Hughes, Larry Hughes and Ronnie Hughes.
Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife, Joyce Hughes; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tim and Kelli Winters and Allen and Vicki Hughes; sister, Andra Hughes; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bobby and Pru Roberts; special friends, Louvenia McDaniel and Othel Earwood; 2 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, special niece and nephew, Crystal and Mark Nixon; and a number of additional nieces, nephews and other family members.
Graveside and Interment Services for Mr. Hughes will be held Monday, October 21, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in the West Hill Cemetery with Mr. Steve Morgan officiating.
Pallbearers will include Mark Nixon, Anniston Mann, Blake Mann, Gavin Mann, Casey Brown and Randy McNeese.
The family of Mr. Hughes will receive friend at Coffman Funeral Home Monday from 12:00 Noon until 1:30 P.M.

Mr. Donald Jason Ray Wigley, age 49, of Trion, GA, died Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Atrium Health Floyd.
Jason was born January 13, 1975, in Rome, GA, son of Yvonne Padgett Wigley and the late Donald Lester Wigley. He was employed with Roper.
Jason also loved reading, science fiction movies, and rock-n-roll music.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his lifelong companion, Linda Jean Smith.
Survivors include his mother, Yvonne Wigley; sisters, Darlene (Tony) Johnson, Madonna Wigley, and Denise (Phillip) Wright; special nieces, Lindsey Wright, Abbi Wright, Chasity Bridges, Candy Hammitt, and Toni Dawn Jones; and a special nephew, Isaac Wright.
Private graveside services will be held at West Hill Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.

The Chattooga Indians will have the night off tonight with a bye week while the Trion Bulldogs will be in action at home against Greenville as we head into week 9 of the 2024 high school football season. Both Trion and Chattooga are in the final stretch of their respective region schedules with only two games left in the regular season and all games at this time of the year have huge playoff implications.
The 8th ranked Trion Bulldogs are 7-1 on the season overall with a 1-1 region 7-A record. The Dawgs are coming off a bye week and are currently tied for 3rd place in the region. The Bulldogs will welcome the Greenville Patriots to Sam R. McCain stadium. Trion and Greenville have only played each other two times in the school’s history back in 1980 and 1981 which were both quarterfinal playoff games. Greenville won in 1980 and Trion came away with the win in 1981. Greenville comes into tonight’s contest with a 3-2 overall record and a 1-0 region record. The Patriots have recorded wins over Calhoun County, Columbus and Mount Zion. Their two losses have come against Hardaway and Pike County. Trion and Greenville only have one common opponent in the Mount Zion Eagles. Trion defeated Mount Zion 44-0 while Greenville won a close game with Mount Zion 37-35. After tonight’s game, Trion will have another bye week next week before finishing the regular season two weeks from tonight on the road in a huge showdown with Bowdon.
The Chattooga Indians have a bye week this week and will start preparing for a road trip to Trenton next week to play the Dade County Wolverines in a critical game that could determine who gets the fourth and final playoff spot in Region 7-A Division 1. Chattooga is on a three game losing streak after losing to region foe Christian Heritage last week 49-14. The Indians currently sit at 4th place in the region with a 2-3 region record.
The Trion vs Greenville game will be live video streamed on the WZQZ Facebook page and will as broadcast live on the radio on 99.1 FM and AM 1180. Paul Cavin and Jeremy Burke will call the action from Trion along with Jim Warnock on the camera. The pregame show will begin around 7:15 pm with kickoff to follow at 7:30 pm.
