Mrs. Annie Sue Blevins Thompson, Obit (M)

Mrs. Annie Sue Blevins Thompson, age 81, of Ladson, SC, (formerly of Menlo, GA) passed away Friday, September 23, 2022, at Advent Health Redmond.

Mrs. Thompson was born December 19, 1940, in Valley Head, AL, daughter of the late Milton and Hazel Sryock Blevins. She was a member of Rock Spring Methodist Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Liberty National Insurance Company. Mrs. Thompson loved life, travelling, and to laugh. She also enjoyed baking cakes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Thompson; a son, Stephen Averett; and brothers, Robert Blevins and Ricky Blevins.

Survivors include her son, Paul Averett; daughter, Samantha Averett; a brother, Lewis Blevins; 9 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, September 26, 2022, at Rock Spring Cemetery 219 Rock Spring Road Milner, GA with Rev. Benny Tate officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Shirley Bethune and Louis Bearden.

There will be no visitation. Everyone is asked to assemble at the cemetery.

Mrs. Janie Sue Lowry, Obit (M)

Mrs. Janie Sue Lowry age 65 of Summerville, GA passed away Friday, September 23, 2022 at a Rome, GA hospital.

Mrs. Lowry was born April 14, 1957 in LaFayette, GA to the late Jake and Della Mae Ball Martin. She was employed by Pruitt Healthcare in LaFayette.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Danny Lowry.

Survivors include her sons, Jon Lowry and Jay (Paula) Lowry; and siblings, Roland Martin, Paul (Becky) Martin, George Martin, and Beckie (Darrell) Millican.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Ms. Lowry will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, September 26 at the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Pace and Rev. Paul Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Perennial Springs Cemetery with Josh McCullough, Danny Ogles, Rodney Womack, Tim Wooten, Allen Martin, and Eddie Millican serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 until the service hour.

Mrs. Elsie Geneva Reynolds Elrod, Obit (C)

Mrs. Elsie Geneva Reynolds Elrod, age 86 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, September 22, 2022 at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Elrod was born in Summerville, Georgia on April 7, 1936, daughter of the late Carlton Reynolds and Gladys Stewart Reynolds. She was a member of the Four Mile Baptist Church and was retired from the Card Room at Mt. Vernon Mills. She was a member of the Quarter Century Club, Modern Woodmen for over 29 years, was a Den Mother for the Boy Scouts of America for 6 years and was a 4-H volunteer for 14 years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Elrod was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Elrod; sister, Dot Campbell and a grandson, James Elrod.

Mrs. Elrod is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Allen Elrod, Robert and Debbie Elrod and Stewart and Patsy Elrod; brother and sister-in-law, Carlton “Sonny” and Christine Reynolds; grandchildren, Kimberly Elrod and Wesley Elrod; 8 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Elrod will be held Sunday, September 25, 2022 at 4:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Pastor Joel A. Smith and former pastor, Doyle Kelley officiating. Entombment will follow in the Green Hills Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

Pallbearers will be Stan Reynolds, Mike Elrod, Ryan Gravley, Dennis Johnson, Tim Wilson, Barry Barosey and Tommy Busbin. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Four Mile Baptist Church, Jim Parker and Malcolm Dodd.

Mrs. Elrod will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.

MRS. SUSIE MAE CRAIG EDGEWORTH, age 78, of Susie Lane, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at her residence. A native Chattooga Countian, She was born to the late Dillard and Daisy Hawkins Craig on October 8, 1943. She was a member of Community Holiness Church and was retired from Mohawk Ind. In addition to Parents, She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, the late Rev. Paul L. Edgeworth, daughter, the late Paula Gene Edgeworth, siblings, the late Tommy Craig, Johnny Craig, and Barbara Gene Craig.

Surviving are daughters and spouses, Janice Marmet (Tony Prater), Patricia Corey (Bryon), Debbie Nance (Paul), and Jaycea Edgeworth; grandchildren, John Marmet, Jennifer Marmet, Nicole Corey, Joie Nance, Michael Marmet, Dakota Lively, Jessie Savory, & Kourtney Marmet; great grandchildren, Memphis Marmet, Caleb “Boo” Bentley, Ryan Marmet, William Marmet, & Brody Marmet; brothers, R. D. Craig and Leon Craig; several Sisters-in-law, Brothers-in-law, Nieces, and Nephews also survive.

Mrs. Geneva Bentley Williams, Obit (C)

Mrs. Geneva Bentley Williams, age 85 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022 in a Rome hospital.

Mrs. Williams was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on April 20, 1937, daughter of the late Melvin Bentley and Ophelia Hawthorne Bentley. She was a member of the Four Mile Baptist Church and was retired from the Chattooga County School System, where she worked at the Summerville Middle School as a custodian and a lunchroom attendant. She was a great cook, loved gardening and tending to her flowers, but especially loved spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her second husband, Charlie Henry (CH) Hendrix, third husband, RW Williams; sister, Luna Mae Tucker and brothers, Kenneth Bentley, Gene Bentley, Buddy Bentley and Dennis Bentley.

Mrs. Williams is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Stacey Koonce; sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Pam Powell and Lt. Col. Ret. Douglas and Effie Powell; grandchildren, Lindsey and Zach White, Josh Koonce and Rosemary Powell; special friends and neighbors, Elsie Elrod and Peggy Herod; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Williams will be held Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.
