Summerville Mayor Harry Harvey and the Summerville City Council will hold a meeting on Monday, December 12, 2022 at 5 PM at Summerville City Hall.  The purpose of the meeting is the first reading of the Fiscal Year 2022-2023 mid-year budget ordinance.  The public is invited to attend.

Last Day To Vote Early In Runoff Election

Today is the last day to vote early in the December 6th Runoff Election between incumbent Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock and Republican Herschel Walker.  Early voting has been heavy in Chattooga County.  At the end of the day on Thursday, the Chattooga County Registrars Office said 2,384 Chattooga County residents had cast their votes.  If you don’t vote early today, you will have to vote on Election Day.  Remember, all early voting takes place at the Chattooga County Registrars Office located at 10017 Commerce Street in Summerville.  All voting on Election Day takes place at your precinct’s local polling place.  Polling places will be open from 7 AM – 7 PM on Election Day.  Remember to bring a picture I.D. when you come to vote.

Multiple Law Enforcement Agencies Make Arrests In Theft Cases

Multiple law enforcement agencies in Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee worked together to arrest three people in connection with thefts that had occurred in multiple jurisdictions, including Chattooga County.

From the City of Summerville: City of Summerville offices will close at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2022, for the annual employee Christmas party. Offices will re-open at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 8:00 a.m. In case of  an emergency, please call 911.

More Information About Former Chattooga County Deputy’s Drug Arrest

A thirty-five-year-old former Chattooga County Deputy was arrested this week on drug charges.  Marvin Armstrong, a resident of Summerville who was currently serving as a Cave Spring, Georgia Police officer, was booked into the Floyd County Jail.

Victorian Christmas December 3-4 In Downtown Summerville Will Highlight A $500 Giveaway

The Summerville Christmas Parade will be held coming up tomorrow evening at 7 PM in downtown Summerville, but Christmas celebrations will continue in Summerville on Saturday and Sunday.  Summerville’s Victorian Christmas will be held on December 3rd and 4th and will feature a street vendor market with over 23 craft and food vendors.  Victorian era characters will be around downtown and there will be free kid’s stories and activities.  A $500 drawing will be held during the event with no purchase necessary.  You can find details on the drawing and the Victorian Christmas Event below:

Sex Offender Arrested For Failure To Register

A Summerville man was arrested this week for failing to register correctly as a sex offender.  Sixty-seven-year-old John A. Dozier, Jr. was arrested on Tuesday of this week.  According to the Georgia Sex Offender registry, Dozier was convicted of child molestation and aggravated sexual battery in 1995.  Dozier’s last registered address was on Henderson Street in Summerville.
