The 2022 “State of Lung Cancer” report reveals that Georgia ranks 40th in the nation for early lung cancer diagnosis. The American Lung Association’s 5th annual report, highlights the toll of lung cancer in Georgia and examines key indicators including new cases, survival, early diagnosis, surgical treatment, lack of treatment and screening rates.

Center Post Community Free Music Night

Center Post Community Center located at 8125 HWY 337 LaFayette, GA will be having a free music night Saturday November 19th, 2022 from 6 pm- 8 pm. Cloudland VFD Holding Gun Raffle

The Cloudland Volunteer Fire Department is holding its annual gun raffle again this year.  This year, the Cloudland Fire Department is raffling a  a Henry “Goldenboy” 22 repeater and a EAA “Windicator” 357/38 special revolver. There will be two separate drawings. Tickets are $5 a piece or 5 for $20.  Drawing will be December 10th Just in time for Christmas. Must be 21 and be able to pass a background check. Georgia Gas Prices Rise

Georgia gas prices ticked upward but is still one of  the cheapest in the United States. Georgia drivers are now paying an average price of $3.17 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight). Monday’s state average was 5 cents more than a week ago, 9 cents less than a month ago, and 8 cents less than this time last year. It now costs $47.55 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline. Drivers are now paying almost $1.50 less to fill-up at the pump compared to last month.

Chattooga Prisoner Accused Of Being Gang Mastermind

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp recently announced the prosecution of several alleged gang members with ties to national gangs.  The arrests were part of a 10-county investigation in Georgia, that included Chattooga County.  The alleged leader of the 183 Gangster Bloods is incarcerated at Hays State Prison in Chattooga County.  Authorities say thirty-nine-year-old Jamar Ramsay, who is serving a life sentence is the mastermind of the gang.

Last Day To Donate For Can Food Drive

Today is the last day to donate canned food for the food drive being sponsored by Chattooga Family Connection.  The organization is looking for donations of food to giveaway coming up this Thursday at the Home For the Holidays Food Give Away that will be held at Esther Manor in Summerville.  Esther Manor is located at the old North Summerville Elementary School off Highland Avenue in Summerville.  If you would like to donate food or need more information, call 706-857-7917.  The food giveaway will be this Thursday from 1PM -3PM and any Chattooga County resident in need can come by and receive food at the drive-thru event.
