New EMS Service Completing First Month Of Operation In Chattooga County

Pedestrian deaths are up across the nation and here in Georgia.  Chattooga County recorded the fourth pedestrian death of 2022 last week when a fifty-seven-year-old man was attempting to cross Highway 27 near Dot Johnson Drive.

Summerville Looks To Purchase New Fire Truck

The Summerville Fire Department is looking to purchase a new firetruck – and the price tag will be close to $800,000.  That’s according to Summerville Fire Chief Robbie Lathem.  Lathem recently gave four different quotes to the Summerville City Council for their consideration.  Summerville Mayor Harry Harvey said several months ago that the city would have to purchase a new truck in the near future.  The newest firetruck the city owns is eleven years-old.  At the last council meeting, some councilmembers were a bit hesitant about the cost, but the council is looking to see if their is the possibility of financing the truck.  The least expensive quote was just over $730,000 and the most expensive quote was just over $789,000.

Vintage Corvette Museum Ribbon Cutting This Friday

Greg Wyatt’s Vintage Corvette’s and Museum is ready to open.  Mr. Wyatt, who has specialized in vintage Corvettes since 1980, had beautifully restored the old Chevrolet automobile dealership in Summerville.  Summerville Main Street and the Chattooga County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Grand Opening and ribbon cutting ceremony this Friday, September 30 at 9:45 AM.  The museum is located at 10601 Commerce Street in Summerville and the public is invited to attend.

Georgia DOT Meeting With Summerville Businesses Affected By Flooding

Summerville businesses that were affected by the recent flooding are being encouraged to attend a meeting at 10 AM tomorrow (Wednesday) at the Chattooga County Civic Center.  The meeting was previously scheduled to be held at Summerville City Hall but has been moved.

The Georgia Department of Transportation is planning to speak with business owners to update them about flood control.  All Summerville business owners are asked to attend.
