Georgia gas prices continue to decline at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia drivers are now paying an average price of $3.33 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight). Monday’s state average was 5 cents less than a week ago, 36 cents less than a month ago, and 35 cents more than this time last year.
Water customers of the City of Menlo and the City of Summerville were able to pick up bottled water and access water from mobile storage units after historic flooding plagued the Summerville water treatment plant on Raccoon Creek.
Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry says that all county offices will be closed today as will the main courthouse and the Chattooga County Courthouse Annex.
On Monday, Chattooga County Magistrate Judge Tracy Maddux showed WZQZ News just how high the water got inside the Judge Jon Payne Chattooga County Courthouse Annex on Sunday morning. Maddux said that while the damage inside the building is bad, it could have been worse.
Lucky’s Supermarket in Menlo handed out a full tractor-trailer load of bottled water on Monday to Chattooga County residents. The store says that they will be having another tractor-trailer load of water on Tuesday to pass out to those in need. Chattooga County residents can get two, twenty-four pack cases of water at no charge.

Menlo residents are able to pick up water at Summerville City Hall. Menlo City Clerk Jill Neal told WZQZ News on Monday afternoon that Menlo water customers can pick up two cases of bottled water at Summerville City Hall. Customers are asked to access Summerville City Hall by taking Cox Street to West Washington Street to pick up the water.
The City of Menlo now has a “water buffalo” in place to provide household water for Menlo Water customers. The unit was in place as of Monday morning. Jill Neal, Menlo City Clerk, told WZQZ News that any Menlo water customers can access the water buffalo at Menlo City Hall. You will need to bring your own container to fill up.
