A former Georgia State Representative and founder of All on Georgia was convicted of stalking, criminal trespass and harassing communications in Bulloch County this week. Forty-five-year-old Delvis W. Dutton represented the 157th District in the Georgia General Assembly from 2011-2015.
The Summerville Friendship Festival will be held today at Dowdy Park in Summerville. The event is presented by Summerville Main Street and there will be activities at the park starting at 10 AM and going until 4 PM. In addition to free events for kids, the festival will feature live music from the Soulshine Band.
MRS. PATRICIA LYNN HARRIS, age 56, of Rome, Georgia passed away Thursday evening, July 28, 2022. She was born in Floyd County, Georgia on October 23, 1965, a daughter to the late Edward Johnston and Margaret Wright Johnston. Mrs. Harris worked as a LPN in a Rome nursing home and was a member of the New Hope South Baptist Church.

On Sunday of this week, Chattooga County Deputies responded to a call at Archie’s Food Mart located in Subligna about damage to a vehicle. When deputies arrived on the scene, they spoke with James Rochester who said he had been doing some work on a nearby farm when a woman jumped in his vehicle and tried to drive off in it.

In 1995, the World Friendship Flag Project, promoting peace and friendship, across the world, began in Summerville. It was spearheaded then, and is cheered on today, by John Turner, now retired but previously an art teacher at Chattooga High School and Rotary International’s high school student club advisor in Summerville. Thanks to efforts by Turner and many others including Summerville’s world-renowned folk-artist Howard Finster, Summerville has become known as the “Friendship Capital of the World.”
