A statement from the Chattooga County Board of Assessors says that they plan to more property visits in order to comply with guidelines from the Georgia Department of Revenue.
Over the past weekend, Chattooga County Sheriff’s Deputies were assisting Summerville Police at a traffic stop at the Circle K on Commerce Street, when drugs were found inside a vehicle. The woman driving told the officers that the drugs were not hers and that they belonged to a man she was staying with at the Express Inn.
Memorial Day weekend is expected to be the busiest in three years, building on a travel resurgence that began earlier this spring. This year’s forecast marks the second highest single-year increase in travelers since 2010 (2021 was the highest), bringing volumes almost in line with pre-pandemic levels. The Trion Town Council will hold their regular monthly meeting for May coming up this Thursday, May 26th at 6 PM at the Trion Town Hall Council Meeting Room. The council will hold a second reading of the existing alcohol ordinance as they move forward to amending the ordinance to allow for the sale of packaged, retail liquor.
