The man accused of murdering Polk County Police Detective and former Chattooga County resident Kristen Hearne during an altercation in 2017 pleaded guilty in Polk County Superior Court on Thursday, bringing Hearne’s biological and law enforcement family one step closer to closure.

A traffic stop after a failure to yield incident lead to the arrest of a thirty-three-year-old Summerville woman recently. A Chattooga County sheriff’s deputy observed a vehicle being driven by Brittany Bullard fail to yield to an oncoming vehicle near Montgomery Street in Summerville. After a traffic stop, the deputy determined that Bullard’s license was suspended. Bulldard was arrested for operating a vehicle with a suspended license and failure to maintain a single lane. Bullard was transported to the Chattooga County Jail.
