The Georgia State Patrol is looking for a Calhoun man in reference to a deadly hit-and-run involving a bicyclist in the Plainville area last month.
State Senator Jeff Mullis (R-Chickamauga), who represents Chattooga County and surrounding areas in the 53rd State Senate District of Georgia, released an update from the General Assembly on Monday. Crossover Day, the day that bills from the House must come to the Senate and bills from the Senate to the House, will be next Tuesday, March 15th.
A fifty-year-old Summerville man was arrested on child molestation and incest charges last week over an ongoing case of abuse that started in 2016.
Gas priclimbed at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $3.88 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Monday’s state average was 38 cents more than a week ago, 64 cents more than last month and $1.30 more than this time last year.
Republican State Representative Eddie Lumsden qualified for reelection in Atlanta on Monday. Rep. Lumsden has served as state representative, representing all of Chattooga County and about one-third of Floyd County, in the Georgia House since 2012 when he defeated seven-term Democrat Barbara Massey Reece of Menlo.
Two candidates qualified for the Chattooga Board of Education on Monday. Lynn Hall qualified as a Democrat for the seat representing Menlo and Bonnie Fletcher qualified as a Republican for the seat representing Lyerly. Qualifying run throughs Friday at noon.
