LaFayette Police made a drug bust following a traffic stop on South Chattanooga Street. They observed the occupants were not wearing seat belts.

Guy Bruce Jr., 92, of LaFayette, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. He passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He attended Fairview South Baptist Church. Mr. Bruce was a Korean War veteran who served in the Army Medical Corp. as a sergeant. He was a retired civil engineer with the Georgia State Highway Department.


On January 25th, 2022, Officers with the Trion Police Department, Agents with the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force, and Agents with the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search warrant at an address on Deforest Avenue in Trion. Agents located over three ounces of Methamphetamine in a vehicle on the property. Located inside the residence were approximately 58 pills identified as Amphetamine and various other controlled pills. The Walker County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.

MR. JAMES LAMAR LAWRENCE – Age 49, of Cartersville, GA formerly Summerville, GA passed away Friday, January 21, 2022. He was a member of New Spirit and Truth Assembly of Jesus Church. He was the owner of Man of Vision Trucking. He was preceded in death by his father, James Lawrence, mother, Nona Adams, and brother, Charles Johnson.
