Mr. Christopher Lee Ray, age 46 of Trion, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021 at the Redmond Regional Medical Centery.
Floyd County law enforcement arrested a Summerville man who is a second-grade teacher at Lyerly Elementary School on child sex charges. The charges stemmed from a sex sting dubbed Operation Safe Christmas and included men who were from as far away as Conyers, Georgia.

A missing Anniston, Alabama man was located in Cherokee County on Friday evening, according to Centre, Alabama police.
A Chattooga County woman reported an incident to the sheriff’s office last week and told a responding deputy that her sister who lives in Chickamauga had taken out insurance on an automobile using the complainant’s personal information. The complainant said that she noticed the charges approximately two months ago. While the complainant was reporting the incident to law enforcement, her sister called and told her that she “wanted to make it right”. The woman refused to give her full address to the responding deputy. The complainant said that she didn’t want to press charges at the time, but did want a report on file.
