Summerville City Council Meeting This Evening

The Summerville City Council will hold their regular council meeting for November coming up this evening at Summerville City Hall.  On the agenda this evening, the council will consider Christmas bonuses for city employees and approve holiday schedules for the upcoming Christmas and New Year Holidays.  Also, the council will be discussing the purchase of property from a timber company for the ongoing city water project.  The meeting will be held in person – or residents can view the meeting via Zoom at 5 PM.  You can see the complete agenda for this evening’s meeting below:

Chattooga Receiving Housing Assistance Through Georgia Initiative for Community Housing

Five Georgia counties will receive assistance with their housing needs through the Georgia Initiative for Community Housing (GICH), a public-private initiative that helps communities strategically grow their economies through local housing-related solutions.   Baldwin County, Chattooga County, Gilmer County, Rabun County, and Towns County will begin the three-year program starting in 2022. Several of these are joint city-county efforts. Recently, the counties were recognized during a luncheon at the GICH Fall Retreat in Athens.
