The Town of Trion is receiving some free land from Trion United Methodist Church. The Trion congregation is donating a section of land to connect two streets.

Gail Anne Brown, 62, of Cedartown, Georgia, died Wednesday, September 1, 2021 after several months of declining health. She was born on February 7, 1959 in Summerville, Georgia to the late Clebert G. Wells and Emma Ovelle Timmons Wells; she was preceded in death by her brothers, Stephen D. Wells and Carl W. Hughes; sister, Francis Gilreath.
MRS. ANNIE HENDRIX MCCARY, age 101, of Bethel Church Road, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Her residence. A life long resident of Chattooga County, Georgia, She was born to the late Walter Dewitt and Stella Mae Hix Hendrix on February 21, 1920. Mrs. McCary was preceded in death by her husband, the late Marvin Franklin McCary and Siblings, the late Elmer Hendrix, Frank Hendrix, the late Robert Hendrix, and the late Rev. Charles Hendrix. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

Catoosa County Sheriff Gary Sisk says deputies have arrested 36-year-old Cameron Gravitt in connection with the murder of a Ringgold therapist. Fifty-four-year-old Glenn Fraser was found in his office earlier this week and had multiple, fatal stab wounds, according to Catoosa Sheriff Gary Sisk. The office is located on Hidden Trace Drive in Ringgold. The Catoosa County Sheriff’s Department made the announcement about Gravitt’s arrest on Friday evening but did not give any further information.
The Northwest Georgia Department of Public Health issued a joint statement with every major health care provider in Northwest Georgia on Friday, urging area residents to get vaccinate. Right now, only around 30% of Northwest Georgians are fully vaccinated, and hospitals are at full capacity with unvaccinated COVID patients. The Delta variant continues to spread across the area, and is affecting young people at a higher rate. The Chattooga County Health Department is holding a free COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Labor Day to encourage residents to get the vaccine. Thanks to an exclusive articulation agreement between Georgia Highlands College (GHC) and the University of Georgia (UGA), GHC students who complete their associate degree in biology while taking specific courses in the biology pathway will be admitted into UGA’s Bachelor of Science in Microbiology program on their Griffin Campus, easing the transition toward obtaining a higher-level degree.
