An inmate at the Floyd County Prison, Suliman Olaitan Adebara, 31 of Atlanta, is facing additional charges after he allegedly conspired with another to sneak a large amount of marijuana into the facility.
Georgia gas prices decreased slightly at the pump compared to a week ago. Georgia motorists are now paying an average price of $2.72 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Monday’s state average is 2 cents less than a week ago, 15 cents more than last month, and 86 cents more than this time last year.

The City of Menlo may soon join Chattooga County’s other three municipalities and the county government in allowing alcohol sales inside the city limits. Currently, Menlo is the only “dry town” left in Chattooga County.
State Representative Eddie Lumsden (R-Armuchee), who represents all of Chattooga and a portion of Floyd County in the Georgia House of Representatives, is slated to present a bill to the House today that will allow police officers to be presented with their badge and gun when they retire.
Lumsden, a retired Georgia State Trooper, is presenting the bill to the full House. SB 198 has already passed in the Georgia State Senate. The bill will allow the Georgia Department of Public Safety the authority to give the guns and badges to law enforcement officers when they retire from service.
The bill has not had any changes since it passed the Senate, so if it passes the House vote today, it will head to Governor Brian Kemp’s desk and is expected to be signed by the governor.
