Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters is rolling back the millage rate – but just slightly. The commissioner says that the net revenue that will come into the county next year will be very close to what it was last year because the tax digest has increased.
The ongoing water problems now include discolored water. The discolored water is coming from Chattooga County Water District Well No. 7 which is being used to supplement water to the City of Summerville. Also, the Town of Lyerly water system has some areas which are supplied with supplemental water from Well No. 7.
According to a report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, a Halls Valley, Trion woman reported the theft of a television over the past weekend.

Gordon County Schools has found it necessary to temporarily close Gordon Central High School to in-person instruction. The closure started on Wednesday. The tentative return date for in-person instruction will be September 2, 2020.
