Accident On Lyerly Highway Near Bellah Avenue

A two-vehicle accident on Tuesday afternoon slowed traffic on Highway 114 (The Lyerly Highway).  The accident happened near the intersection of Bellah Avenue.  Witnesses on the scene say that a red SUV and a smaller sedan were involved.  The SUV left the roadway on the east side of Highway 114 and entered a wooded area.  There was minor damage to the sedan.  Traffic heading north on Highway 114 was being rerouted around Bellah Avenue.  Redmond EMS responded with two ambulances, but it did not appear anyone was transported from the scene of the crash.  Summerville Police, Summerville firefighters and Chattooga County Sheriff’s Deputies were on the scene.  WZQZ News will have more information as it release from the Summerville Police Department.

Chattooga Courthouse Worker Being Tested For COVID-19

An employee at the Chattooga County Courthouse has been tested for COVID-19 after exhibiting symptoms.  Commissioner Jason Winters says that the main courthouse will be CLOSED the remainder of the day today and also on Wednesday.  Test results on the employee are expected to be back on Wednesday.  You can read Commissioner Winters’ statement below:
