Buford Prison Escapee Captured In Northwest Georgia

A wanted man was captured in late October in Northwest Georgia.  Georgia prison officials say that the man was in a prison-transition program at the state prison in Buford, Georgia.  They say that forty-seven-year-old Brian Scott Murphy was working at a job in Gainesville and was supposed to return to the prison in Buford on October 14th, but failed to show back up.

Trion Man Reports Damage To Shed

The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call in Trion about a damage to property.  When the responding deputy talked with the property owner on Cottonwood Street in Trion, the complainant said that he noticed that his shed was leaning to one side.  On further inspection, the property owner said that someone had entered the building and removed the center support of the shed, causing the shed to lean to one side.  The incident was turned over to an investigator.

Recount Underway In Georgia

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has ordered a recount for the General Election that was held last week, which will mean all votes in Chattooga County and the other 158 counties throughout the state will be recounted in the upcoming days.  Raffensperger says that his office is moving quickly on the recount, which could affect the outcome of the two hotly-contested U.S. Senate races.
