Free Food Distribution At Summerville Middle School

On Monday, September 16th there will be free food distribution at Summerville Middle School.  Anyone in need of food is welcome to come by between the hours of 2 PM and 4 PM.  The food will be distributed first come, first serve, while supplies last.

Chattooga High School Class of 1974 Reunion Planning Meeting Saturday At Noon

The Chattooga High School class of 1974 is having a very important planning meeting for their 50th class reunion this Saturday at 12 noon at the Crushed Tomato in Summerville. Blood Drive / Lung Screening Bus At Mount Vernon Mills

 

Press Release Mount Vernon Mills – Trion, GA:

On Wednesday September 18th a lot of exciting health related events will be taking place at Mount Vernon Mills in Trion Georgia.

We will be hosting a blood drive in conjunction with Blood Assurance. Buses will be at the Trion facilities from 7am-5pm to collect much needed blood donations to be used for our local community.
Also on this day from 9am-12 noon Primary Healthcare along with other area vendors will be present to provide information and links to free and low-cost health services available to our community.

And new to our line-up of health related events: CHI Memorial Breathe Easy Lung Scan Bus will be available from 1pm-8pm providing Free or Low-Cost Lung CT Scans. The basic guidelines for the free/low-cost Lung CT Scan are:
1) age 50 or older
2) a current or former smoker
3) have not had a Lung CT scan in the last 12 months

Community members and employees can participate in any or all of these exciting activities. Junior Ranger Camp At Sloppy Floyd State Park Next Month

James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park will host Jr. Ranger Camp coming up next month .  There will be two dates for different age groups.  The first camp will be on October 3rd from 8:30 AM until 4 PM for ages 6-10 and the second will be held on October 4th for ages 11-14, also from 8:30 AM until 4 PM.  Campers will learn archery basics and get to try their hand at fishing and will also learn about wildlife in the park.  For registration or questions, call the park office at 706-857-0826.  The cost of the camp is $30 per camper.

Subligna Community Center Fundraiser

Subligna Community Center fundraiser will be held this Saturday, September 14th from 11:30 AM until 2 PM.  Come out and support the Subligna Community Center and get some good BBQ for $10 per person.

Chamber Luncheon To Feature Tooga Theater

The next Chattooga Chamber meeting will he held next week on September 17th at Noon at the Chattooga County Civic Center on Highway 48 in Summerville across from Truist Bank. Learn about the history of the Tooga and some 100 years of the other theaters in the county . Exciting plans will be unveiled for the rebirth of the Tooga as a community space for concerts, play and programs. You will be able to see virtual pictures of the way it will look and function. Georgia Department Of Juvenile Justice Hosting Career Fair

The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice has scheduled a Rome Career Fair for Wednesday, September 18th from 10 am to 2 pm at the Bob Richards Regional Youth Detention Center, 200 Marable Way. Lyerly Down Home Day September 28

The Town of Lyerly has announced the date for this year’s Down Home Day.  Lyerly Down Home Day is a free event open to anyone in the surrounding area.  Attendees will be able to shop with arts and crafts vendors from all over the Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama area and there will be plenty of food vendors as well.  There will be bingo, pony rides, hayrides and an apple pie eating contest.  The event will take place on the last Saturday of the month from 10 AM – 2 PM at Angus McLeod Park in Lyerly.  For more information, contact Lyerly Town Hall at 706-859-2611.

Outdoor Adventure Day At Sloppy Floyd State Park

James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park will be holding Outdoor Adventure Day coming up on Saturday, September 28th from 10 AM until 4 PM. Kids 15 and under can try their hand at catching tagged catfish to win prizes. Bring your own fishing poles and bait. There will be archery opportunities, a birds of prey show, a climbing wall, and a reptile show.
