Summerville Main Street is planning a Victorian Christmas celebration the first weekend in December. There will be a Christmas Market on East Washington Street, with food, retail sales and crafts. The Christmas Market will be from 11 AM -5 PM. Then, on Sunday, December 4th from 12:30 PM – 4 PM, there will be a Live Nativity and Christmas Caroling in downtown Summerville along with contests and kids games. The Chattooga High School Class of 1980 is planning their 42nd reunion. The reunion will be held at The Tavern in Trion coming up on November 12th. Those wishing to attend should contact Susan Reece, Sheryl Brooks or Tammy Norton. The cost is $30 and must be paid in advance.
The Trion Lions Club is selling a 2022 fresh crop of pecans. The pecans are available at Trion Drugs, Economy Pharmacy in Summerville and Crossroads Pharmacy in Menlo.

Once again this year, the annual Veterans Day ceremony will be held at Menlo Elementary School. The school has a long history of honoring local veterans each veterans day. This year’s program is scheduled on November 11th at 9:30 AM. The announcement from the school says it will be a “ceremony to honor the lives, the fight and the service of veterans”. All area veterans are invited to attend.
The Dino Richardson Memorial Toy Run for the Stocking Full of Love is this Sunday, November 6th. The ride will be starting at Ridgeland High School. Motorcycle riders are invited to bring a new, unwrapped toy or cash donation and ride along. Kick stands up at 2 PM.
The date for the Summerville Christmas Parade has been set for Friday December 2nd at 7pm. The theme for this year’s Summerville Christmas Parade is “Winter Wonderland”. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place entries in the parade. There is a $25 entry fee and applications are available now at the Summerville Recreation Department. The parade will be held at 7 PM on Friday December 2nd. Businesses, churches and civic organizations are encouraged to make plans now for entries for the Summerville Christmas Parade.
