Lookout Mountain CASA Drop-In-Trainings

During  the month of April for child abuse awareness month, Lookout Mountain CASA is offering drop in trainings regardless of completed application status. If you are interested, the training is in person at 901 North Main Street, Lafayette, GA  on Mon, Tues, Thurs 10- 1 or 1:30 – 4pm. This drop in training is only for the month of April,  we can do an initial training, regardless of application status.

Chattooga Beekeepers Meeting

Chattooga Beekeepers will hold their monthly meeting April 12 at 7pm at the Ag Building, 40 Middle School Rd, Summerville.  The speaker will be Gary Rains, a seasoned beekeeper from NWGA Beekeepers, who will present a program on Hive Inspections.  Beekeepers, anyone contemplating bees, or friends of bees are welcome to attend.  There is no charge.

Armuchee Valley Community Center Spring Market

The Armuchee Valley Community Center will host a Spring Market with arts and crafts vendors and an egg hunt for children, this Saturday. The Market opens at 11 a.m. – egg hunt starts at 1:30 p.m. at the Community Center on Highway 136 at Villanow. Food will be available and admission is free.

CASA Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed to speak up for children from broken places. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteers are specially trained people from all walks of life, who advocate for the well-being of Georgia’s children that have suffered abuse and neglect. CASAs are appointed to a case by the Juvenile Circuit Court judge to speak in a child’s best interest in their foster care case. Lookout Mountain CASA will begin training new volunteers monthly Monday through Thursday. The volunteers will help speak for children in Walker, Dade, Catoosa and Chattooga Counties.  For more information and to obtain a volunteer application call 423-402-0843 or email lookoutmtncasa@gmail.com.

Vietnam Veterans Event Schedule For Next Week

Next Tuesday, March 29, 2022 is “National Vietnam Veterans’ Welcome Home Day”.  The event will be marked by a visit from the Georgia Department of Veterans Services Commissioner Patricia Ross, who will be speaking at the Chattooga County Memorial Home .

Teloga Fire Department Annual Meeting

Residents of the Teloga Community are being invited to attend the annual meeting of the Teloga Volunteer Fire Department.  The meeting will be held next week on Monday, March 21st.  The meeting will get underway at 7 PM at the Teloga Fire Hall, located at 10322 Highway 337.  Members of the community are urged to attend.

Rotary Scholarship Applications Accepted Until March 30, 2022
