State Senator Colton Moore, a Republican who represents Chattooga County and the rest of the 53rd Senate District in the Georgia State Senate, spent a lot of 2023 calling for the investigation of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. She is handling the prosecution of former President Donald Trump on charges that he interfered with the 2020 Presidential election in Georgia.
A thirty-one-year-old Armuchee mom was jailed on Friday of last week for sending fake doctor’s excuses to school with her child. According to reports over the weekend, the Floyd County School System sought to charge the woman with felony forgery charges after what they described as a chronic pattern of sending forged, fake, doctor’s excuses to Armuchee Primary School in an effort to get her child out of school without repercussions. Jennifer Leigh Vasser was jailed with a $5,700 bond on the felony forgery charges.
Both declared candidates for Chattooga County Commissioner now have official campaign websites. Challenger Andy Allen launched his campaign website in December of last year. Incumbent Commissioner Blake Elbserry announced over the weekend that he now has a campaign website as well.
Summerville Police are investigating a burglary at a home on Highland Avenue in Summerville. The home was recently purchased and the new owners went by to look at renovations that were needed. When they arrived, the home owners found a sliding glass door had been shattered. A sledge hammer was on the floor close to the shattered sliding door. Police spoke with a former tenant of the residence, who said that all of the appliances were still in the home when he moved out. The owners said that an oven that was at the house was now missing. As of Friday of last week, Summerville Police had no possible suspects in connection with the burglary incident.

Investigators with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration have cited a Floyd County plumbing contractor in connection with the death of a worker who fell to his death at Armuchee High School in June of last year.
