Georgia is set to allow independent pharmacies to sell medical cannabis but the Federal government issued a memorandum that has some of those pharmacies thinking twice about selling THC oil that is more than 0.3%. Georgia law allows for the sale of cannabis with a strength up to 5% THC, but up until recently, there was no legal way to dispense that product to those who need it.

Jason Jordan is head of the pastoral care team at AtriumHealth Floyd and says that all of three of the AtriumHealth Floyd Hospitals in Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama will be observing the “Longest Night Service” that starts at 7 AM on December 21st and continues through 7 AM December 22nd.
Rev. Jordan says The Longest Night observance at Atrium Health Floyd promotes connection among teammates in a meaningful ritual they hope will lead to collective healing. The Longest Night promotes an awareness that the “space between each of us” can be healing and affirming.
It is a place to listen, to seek to understand, to give witness, to validate and to encourage one another, while being tender to ourselves all along the way.

Boating and paddling enthusiasts are concerned about language coming out of a Georgia House of Representatives committee that wants the state to identify if streams and rivers across the Peach State are navigable. Statewide groups representing recreational boaters and paddlers say that the law makers are using arcane language from a 19th century state law to make the determination. At the center of the discussion is a 1997 Georgia Supreme Court ruling that said that the Armuchee Creek that runs in both Floyd and Chattooga Counties is not a navigable stream, thus restricting boaters from the water.
This past week, law enforcement officers graduated from the Georgia Public Safety Training Center’s Basic Law Enforcement Training Course and two of them will be joining local law enforcement agencies in Chattooga County.
