Cash App Theft Reported To Police

Summerville Police are investigating the theft of money from an elderly woman who reported that a forty-six-year-old man has stolen money from her cash app twice in recent days.  The woman told a responding officer that she allowed the man to use her cell phone to “check his Facebook” and the man sent $110 to his girlfriend, using the complainant’s cash app.  A second time, the man asked to borrow her phone to check his social media, and again stole $110 – this time sending it to himself.  The woman said she asked the man why he would steal her last little bit of money and now the suspect is refusing to take her calls.  Police advised the woman that they would have a report completed so she could attempt to get her money back and also that the incident would be turned over to an investigator with the police department.
