An Armuchee woman was sentenced Thursday to 12 years in prison for a February wreck that tragically resulted in an Armuchee Elementary School teacher losing her leg. Floyd County Superior Court Judge Kay Ann King handed down the sentence to Shannon Marie Hampton, 40, who had previously pleaded guilty to felony serious injury by vehicle in an open plea deal.

A Chattooga County woman, Mandy Christine Lee, 52, was arrested early Monday morning after repeatedly calling 911 to report harassment and physical assault by “Advent satellites,” according to a report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office. Lee faces charges of obstruction of officers and unlawful conduct during a 911 call.
