The annual Summerville Scarecrow Contest is right around the corner, and residents and local organizations are being invited to showcase their most creative and whimsical straw-stuffed creations. This beloved autumnal tradition, organized by the Summerville Main Street program, invites individuals, businesses, churches, schools, and community groups to put their design skills to the test in a friendly competition that transforms downtown streets into a vibrant display of harvest-themed artistry. There are cash prizes of $100 for first place, $50 for second, and $25 for third, enticing participants to pull out all the stops in crafting their scarecrow masterpieces. Scarecrows will need to be constructed between September 30th and October 3rd. Those wishing to showcase their scarecrow creations must submit the official registration forms, available at both Summerville City Hall on Georgia Avenue and the Summerville Main Street Office, by the September 27th deadline. With the promise of festive fall decor, community pride, and the chance to win big, it’s no wonder the Summerville Scarecrow Contest has become a much-anticipated annual tradition that draws crowds of spectators eager to admire the imaginative scarecrows lining the streets of downtown Summerville.
