Trenton Man Injured In Fall At Little River Canyon

A man from Trenton, Georgia was injured in a fall at Little River Canyon Falls Park over the weekend, according to DeKalb County authorities. A twenty-one-year-old man was walking at the top of the falls when he fell about 40 feet, according to officials. Several first responders and law enforcement agencies responded to the scene. After a bystander called for help, responders found the man on a rock ledge. Responders then extricated the man from the top of the falls, according to officials. A medical helicopter then transported him from the scene. His identity has not been released, nor has his current condition.

Trion Middle SchoolBack To School Events

Man Arrested During Domestic Dispute

A forty-year-old Summerville man was taken to jail last Friday after being involved in a domestic dispute at an apartment on Northwest Congress Street.  A responding officer arrived on the scene and could hear  Timothy Burkett in his home being very loud and causing a scene. After many unsuccessful attempts to calm Burkett down, it was decided the only way to calm the situation was to place him under arrest. Burkett was charged with disorderly conduct and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.

Man With Open Container Fails Field Sobriety Test

A deputy on patrol performed a traffic stop near Trion on the night of the chemical spill at Mount Vernon Mills. The deputy called a supervisor with the sheriff’s office who was at the scene of the chemical spill to come to the nearby traffic stop. The driver, identified as thirty-two-year-old Vinicio Roblero, was determined to be intoxicated and had an open container in his vehicle. Roblero stated that had only had one drink and agreed to a field sobriety test to which he had difficulty doing. When the test concluded, Roblero was placed under arrest for DUI of alcohol, expired license and open container and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.

Chattooga Voters Will Decide On SPLOST In Two Years

Chattooga County voters have almost always approved the special local option sales tax referendums when they are placed on the ballot. The idea for most voters seems to be that an extra penny in sales tax is better than property taxes going up and that the tax makes “everybody” pay instead of just property owners.

Chattooga Registrars Office Reports 100% Accuracy In Recent Elections

The Chattooga County Registrars Office reports 100% accuracy in both the 2024 General Primary Election and Nonpartisan General Election and the subsequent General Primary Election Runoff. For both audits, teams with the local registrars office hand-counted every ballot cast in each election. For the May election the Supreme Court of Georgia and Chattooga County Coroner races were audited. For the runoff, the US House of Representatives, District 14 and the Chattooga County Coroner race were counted.

GNTC Student Places In FBLA Competition

Georgia Northwestern Technical College student Nancy Johnson, a resident of Tunnel Hill, placed seventh in Foundations of Entrepreneurship at the Future Business Leaders of America Collegiate National Leadership Conference held June 24-27 in Orlando.
